Eger

Eger lies in the valley of the Eger River, which is a tributary of the Tisza, between the Matra and Bükk
mountains. It’s an old Magyar tirbal city with a bishopric founded in the 11th century. The Tatar invasion of
the 13th century leveled most of the town, which was one of the richest early medieval Hungary. The remains
of the fortress from which the town was defended from the Turks in 1551 are on the hills to the northeast.
Eger is also associated with Egri Bikaver (Bull’s blood), a robust red wine the Turkish invaders believed
to have strength-giving properties. Wine has been made here for over 1000 years and a new breed of
winemakers is successfully blending traditional techniques with modern methods to put Eger back on the
wine map. Eger is one of the most attractive cities in Hungary with a historical city centre and you can find
more then 175 monuments and characteristic buildings.

Budapest

Budapest is one of the most beautiful capitals of the Central European region and one of the most preferred
Eastern European tourist destinations. Budapest is often said to be the Paris of East-Europe, but to be
honest, it is even more beautiful. Separated by the river Danube, the two parts of the capital of Hungary,
Buda and Pest are the perfect place for both tourism and business. The Royal Castle and its beautiful
surroundings, is one of the favorite locations on the Buda side. The Vaci street shopping area is one of the
main attractions at Pest, but also historic places (like the House of Terror Museum and reminders of the
1956 events) are very popular and very worthy to pay a visit.
